Breaking: Hilleary Buys TV Too
Responding to Bob Corker's $1.6 million state wide TV ad buy, one of Corker's primary opponents Van Hilleary announced a buy of his own. Hilleary reportedly bought a limited ad buy to run in East Tennessee which will feature two different ads, one of which attacks both Bob Corker and the presumptive Democratic nominee Harold Ford, Jr. The Hilleary camp is holding back on releasing the magnitute of the ad buy, but it is not expected to reach into the West or Middle Tennessee markets - and is not placed to the saturation level of the Corker ads.
What's the strategy behind Hilleary spending close to $200K on TV ads now when he's got such higher name recognition than Bryant and Corker? How will the fact that he trails Bryant by $200K in money that can be spent in the primary effect his finances for the next three months. Will Hilleary have enough money to compete in June and July when it counts?
