Breaking: Summers Won't Seek New Term

Tennessee Attorney General Paul Summers will not seek another appointment as the state's legal officer when his term ends August 31. That leaves the Tennessee Supreme Court with the decision on who the next attorney general will be. Tennessee is the only state in which the Supreme Court appoints the attorney general. Most other states select attorneys general through elections or appointment by the governor.
