I think your over estimating the power of TRTL. Outside of the small political junkie group on these blogs. No one knows who Harris or his little group is. This is just like the left with Lieberman and Moveon. Moveon did NOT defeat Lieberman. Lamonts checkbook defeated Lieberman. But these internal polls aside. The only way I think Ford wins is if a national tidal wave develops for the Democrats. If that doesnt happen I just dont see it happening. His father and uncle John have just done too much damage over the years in rural white democrat areas for him to win.

My apologies for the previous post. I had not heard the news about Terrell Owens trying to commit suicide. I sure hope he is ok!

I disagree...TRTL has tremendous influence with right wing conservatives. Corker will need them to really turn out. I would be more concerned if the gay marriage ammendent was not on the ballot. That being on their will compensate for TRTL's inaction.

Daily Dose
Ford's Internal Poll Shows Him Up By 6 -- A survey conducted by Harold Ford, Jr's campaign of 605 likely registered voters from Sept. 21-23, has Junior leading Corker 45 percent to 39 percent with 17 percent undecided. Margin for error was ±3.9%. Corker CM Ben MItchell desputed the accuracy of the poll and said the Corker camp's internal polling suggested Corker was "in a strong position to win this race."
Corker Hires Bryson Media Consultant -- Corker's campaign announced yesterday they have hired media consultant Fred Davis, who produced Jim Bryson's first TV ad, to produce ads for Corker as well. Davis will supplement media consultant Paul Curcio. The Ford campaign also had a staff shakeup. Campaign manager Jim Hester was replaced by Beecher Frazier.
Shelby Co. Commission Required to Fill Seats -- A quirk in state law may force the Shelby County Commission to fill two vacant state Senate seats, even though the appointees could serve as little as one day in office. The commission must fill vacancies created by the recent resignations of Democrat Kathryn Bowers and Republican Curtis Person before the Nov. 7 state general election, because those resignations happened within one year before an election. A compromise plan passed by the commission means the apointees will only serve in the State Senate for one day - with the winner of the November election taking office on Election Day.
9th Congressional Candidates Square Off -- Candidates to replace Harold Ford, Jr in the US Congress debated at a forum held by the League of Women Voters. The highlight of the evening came when Democratic candidate Steve Cohen compared gay marriage to the civil rights movement. Jake Ford, the brother of Harold Ford, who is running as an indepedent said he resented the comparison. Harold Ford Jr. has not endorsed Cohen nor his brother Jake.
Ballot Intiative Two -- A second ballot intiative will be on the ballot this November allowing local governments to provide property tax relief to residences 65 and older. The provision would allow cities to freeze property tax assessment increases for those 65+. Now advocates for the measure have a website, according to the News-Sentinel. The first ballot intiative would define marriage between one man and one woman.
Ford has some momentum but still has a long way to go. I don't know why Corker has decided to lay off Ford's family. Corruption and scandel is a Ford Family Tradition and that needs to be brought out in this campaign.
I am also clueless as to why Corker has deviated from his original strategy of being an outsider. That worked wonders for him in the primary and he needs to get back to that for the general. Traveling in this campaign is the first time Ford has ever been outside of Memphis or D.C.
I sure hope Bryan Harris can live with himself if Corker loses. He has a bigger ego then Terrell Owens. Maybe some of our wonderful elected officials who read this can explain why TRTL is staying out of this race?
