WSJ Poll Puts Corker on Top by 5 -- A Wall Street Journal / Zogby Interactive poll released yesterday shows Bob Corker at 47.6% to Harold Ford Jr's 42.4%. The poll based on online surveying has a margin of error of ±3.4%.
Corker: Ford New 'Lifestyles' Ad Completely False -- Bob Corker went on the offensive against Harold Ford, Jr's newest ad criticizing Bob Corker for living in a "$30M mansion" while freezing the pay of police officers and firefighters. In a conference call with reporters that the Corker campaign organized, Chattanooga’s fire chief under Corker and the president of the Chattanooga Fraternal Order of Police both said they received pay raises every year Corker was mayor. A spokesman for Ford's campaign says the pay increases were "step" increases which because of cost of living increases were actually pay cuts. More from the Times Free Press and Commercial Appeal
Corker Ad Wizard Howell Profiled -- The Memphis Daily News has an excellent article profiling Scott Howell, a media consultant that has helped the RNC develop ads in Tennessee critical of Harold Ford, Jr. Howell formerly worked directly for the Corker campaign, but has since moved to working on the ads sponsored by the RNC. Advisors to Ford said Howell is "known for his particular brand of nastiness learned through the Rovean school." Ford recently accused Rove of joining the Corker campaign team.
Republican Withdraws in Senate District 33 -- Reginald Tate, who wasn't even on the ballot until Democratics nominated him to replace Kathryn Bowers a few weeks ago, will become the next State Senator in District 33, because Republican challenger Michael Floyd has dropped out of the race. Floyd told The Commercial Appeal he withdrew for medical reasons. Shelby Co. Republican Party Chair Bill Giannini said he had been told by election officials that Floyd would not be removed from the ballot, only to learn Thursday, when it was too late to choose a new candidate, that Floyd had been removed from the ballot. District 33 is a solid Democratic district.
I'm way over here in Cheatham Co. But heard that Michael Floyd dropped out of the dist.33 race (Kathren Bowers dist.) because he and his familys' lives where threatened. Any truth to that? Have we become moral victums and causualties, swindled out of our freedoms
by a political crime family?
I'm not suprised but I am insensed that they will get away with it. JS
