Are you kidding me? Corker won? NO WAY! Acoording to most other sources, and my opinion, Ford blew Corker away. Ford came across as the onw with the ideas and the knowledge to take this country forward. All Corker did was avoid questions, lie about his record, and attack Ford's family. Ford should be proud that his family's business is public service.

Ford's family business? Corruption and defrauding people of millions is quite a business. That is the Ford Family tradition. It will just be more of the same if Jr. gets elected.

Mary, A.C. at Volunteer Voters was the principal pundit I was referring to in this case, although R. Neal at KnoxViews made similar comments here.

Memphis Hosts Three Weekend Debates -- Debates in three interesting races across the state happened over the weekend:
- The first debate in the US Senate race - where pundits are praising Bob Corker's performance and criticizing Harold Ford, Jr's as fake. Although many may have missed the debate while they watched the University of Tennessee football team come alive in a second half victory over Georgia. A.C. at Volunteer Voters has the best round-up of the Senate debate.
- The Chattanooga Times Free Press, News-Sentinel and Commercial Appeal have articles on the second debate between Governor Phil Bredesen and Republican Jim Bryson - also in Memphis, where the issue of raising gas taxes seemed to be the most contentious - and Bredesen openingly coming out against a reduction in the state's sales tax.
- The third debate is profiled in the Commercial Appeal between the candidates for the 9th Congressional District seat, the highlights of which seemed to have been Democratic nominee Steve Cohen calling for an immediate withdrawal from Iraq and saying the 9th district was a place in the state were you could be a "true Democrat" and Jake Ford, Harold's brother, admitting he's running as an independent to avoid the very contentious Democratic primary.
Thompson Coming to Town -- Fred Thompson will be coming in to town to campaign for Bob Corker - a rumor reported in today's City Paper that appears to be true. Many in the new campaign team assembled by Corker have ties to Thompson, including Corker's new campaign chairman Tom Ingram. Ingram developed the concept for Thompson of using the red truck to campaign across the state. Thompson is currently in New York filming Law and Order for NBC. If Thompson does come to town, there is no doubt that he'll be on the same new talking point as both Corker and Sen. Lamar Alexander have been pushing the past week - that Ford is a part of machine politics in Memphis.
Corker put the beat down on Ford. Too bad noone watched it. Who watches CSPAN on Saturday night? Especially when they can watch UT Football.
