Corker Says He May Support Military Leadership Change -- Republican U.S. Senate nominee Bob Corker said Tuesday night that with new policy being developed in Iraq, it may be time to consider some fresh military leadership, but it will be the President's decision. The Chattanooga Times Free Press has the story Ironically, Laura Bush while stumping for Corker in Kingsport said, Corker would "be a champion of the men and woman of the United States military." Corker also took this jab at the event: "Contrary to what congressman Ford has been saying around the state of Tennessee, people other than Democrats love God."
Ford Hones 'Change' Message -- Harold Ford, Jr. rallyed voters at a Chattanooga restaurant, with one voter shaking as he admitted to Ford he was voting for Corker. The newest Corker ad criticizes Ford for transferring campaign money to the defense fund of Dwain Kyles, a former campaign manager for Harold Ford Sr. Kyles was indicted for involuntary manslaughter in the 2003 Chicago nightclub fire. Polling Inaccuracies -- The Knoxville News-Sentinel and Commercial Appeal both have stories on potential flaws in the Senate race polls released - Ford criticized the poll released by CNN that showed Corker outside the margin of error and the Commercial Appeal leads with the headline "Is Ford's white support for real?" exploring the much discussed tendency in polling to show artifically inflated numbers among white voters voting for African-Americans.
GOP Needs Four House Seats -- The Republicans need four seats in the House to take control of the lower chamber of the General Assembly this year. It's a feat that is somewhat unlikely, but the Knoxville News-Sentinel takes a look at some races in the Knoxville area that could very well make or break the GOP effort.
