English First Delayed in Nashville -- The Metro Council last night ultimately decided to delay making a decision on Metro Councilman Eric Crafton’s “English First” proposal to make English the official language of Davidson County until the first week in February. The proposal, which has come under fire for a number of pro-business groups, who say the resolution isn't representative of Nashville's "inclusiveness." More from the Knoxville News-Sentinel.
Waltzer Hooks, Sr. Sentencing Today -- Michael Hooks, Sr. a former Shelby Co. Commissioner indicted in Operation Tennessee Waltz will face sentencing today. Hooks, Sr. Even though he has admitted taking more than twice as much as former legislator Roscoe Dixon, Hooks' public pleas for forgiveness could result in a sentence of less than Dixon's five years and three months of incarceration.
Hooks got 26 months in prison!
