Reaction to the State of the Union -- The Chattanoogan has reaction to last night's State of the Union address from Sens. Bob Corker and Lamar Alexander. The Tennessean also has some man-on-the-street style interviews.

Ramsey Gets the Spoils -- New Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey will get to appoint over 53 state board and commission head as a part of his new job. Ramsey signaled his preference for at least one committe appointment, saying he would appoint someone more conservative to the Judicial Selection Committee, a committee that selects Supreme Court nominees, although Ramsey's appointments won't have an immediate effect. The Nashville City Paper reports Lt. Gov. Ramsey said Tuesday he will not reappoint Mr. Hensley to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Commission, on which he has served for 18 years. Hensley was a strong ally of former Lt. Gov. John Wilder.

Governor in Fender Bender -- The Department of Safety announced earlier today that the Governor was involved in a minor fender bender in Nashville last night. There were no injuries. The governor's Lincoln Town Car was struck, but the Governor and his driver were both wearing seat belts.

Dayton Gets Court Square Revitalization Funds -- The city of Dayton has been selected as one of six cities in the state to take part in a pilot program for courthouse square revitalization. The state’s General Assembly passed a bill in 2005 allowing the selected cities to use a portion of the state sales tax for revitalization purposes. The money will keep being generated for the zone until 2015 when the bill sunsets.
