The roll-out of Fred's new site marks the official end of the Tennessee Hacks' involvement. Fred is in the process of recruiting political talent from outside the state, leaving those from the Vol state who hoped to get a spot in the upcoming presidential race in the lurch.
But, Fred was smart not to let Tennesseans run his race. Look what happened to the last two presidential campaigns Tennessee hacks ran. Alexander never sould get it together because his staff was inexperienced in putting together and running a presidential campaign. So, why do they think they could do it this time?
So, Fred cut 'em loose and is getting some real presidential veterans to run his campaign.

Thompson Launches Website
Thompson Launches Website -- While the other GOP candidates were debating in New Hampshire, Fred Thompson was plugging his newly launched website with FNC's Sean Hannity. You can check out Fred's website at imwithfred.com. Thompson responded to criticism on the blogosphere and among political pundits about his wife: "I'm not going to be dissuaded by all of this. It's another disconnect between the professional politicians and the press and Washington and all of that from the American people, who are sick and tired of all that. So it's a badge of honor to get attacked by some of these bozos."
Odom: GOP Tax Holiday Plan For Stocking Up on Steaks -- There are at least four competing plans for reducing the state sales tax before the General Assembly. Republicans have a plan to introduce a state sales tax holiday for the months of November and December and Democrats have a plan to reduce the sales tax on certain food items. House Democratic Leader Gary Odom criticized the GOP plan: "We’re not going to some gimmick in December where wealthy people can fill up their freezers with steak, which is what the Republicans want to do." The other plan is to combine the two proposals and offer a limited sales tax holiday and a reduction on sales tax on food, but Bredesen says there is not enough money to do that - he prefers not reducing the sales tax at all. More here.
Aquarium to Get a Piece of Zoo Money -- The Chattanooga Aquarium will get a share of the $750,000 in additional zoo funding that Governor Bredesen allocated to all the state's major zoos in this year's budget. The Chattanooga delegation came to agreement to give the aquarium 30% of that sum, leaving the zoo with the other 70%. Through previous negotiations with the zoo, the aquarium was going to take the lions share of the funding, but the Chattanooga legislative delegation overrulled that decision and State Finance Commissioner Dave Goetz ratified the decision, saying "whatever they want."
Surprise, Surprise - Memphis Ethics Policy Toothless -- The Memphis City Council unanimously passed a new ethics ordinance Tuesday, but the maximum penalties under the ordinance are a $50 fine or public embarassment. City Councilman Tom Marshall said the ethics policy is toothless because the legal department said they needed a charter amendment to include penalties such as removal from office. Ironically, council member Edmund Ford, currently facing federal bribery charges, voted for the ethics law.
Baxter Unindicted Co-conspirator in Cooper Trial -- The mysterious co-conspirator in State Sen. Jerry Cooper's federal land fraud trial has been unmasked as former TN Economic Development head and former TVA board member Bill Baxter. Baxter resigned from the TVA board earlier this year to return to the private sector as chairman of the family firm, Holston Gases Inc., a Knoxville industrial gas distributor. Baxter, apparently was not charged because of the statute of limitations.
Odom and that Rep from Cookeville sound like complete fools when they make remarks like they have in the past few days.
