Alexander Not Targeted by National Dems
Alexander Not Targeted by National Dems -- The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee released its list of target races and TN is no where to be found. Chuck Shumer briefed reporters on the DSCC's target races and Lamar Alexander will apparently not have to worry about an infusion of money from the DSCC for whoever wins a Democratic primary. Tennessee's Senate seat is not listed even among the DSCC's list of "outside chances." Swing State Project remarks: "Only the two Wyoming seats, Thad Cochran, Jeff Sessions, Lindsey Graham and Lamar Alexander are definitely off the table in the DSCC's eyes." Earlier in the week, Rasmussen showed Alexander trouncing both potential Democratic nominees.
Overby's Qualifications Challenged -- State Rep. Doug Overby who has qualified to run against a sitting State Senator from his own party - Sen. Raymond Finney - may not be qualified to hold his current seat or the one he seeks. Blount Co. political activist Sunny Day has filed an election commission complaint against Overbey saying Overbey serves as Alcoa’s city attorney and sits as a city judge and therefore cannot serve in the judicial and legislative branches at the same time.
Another Waltzer Leaves the Dance Floor -- In Memphis, Michael Hooks Jr., was sentenced to 30 days in federal prison Wednesday for his role in a bogus-invoice scam in 2001 in the Juvenile Court Clerk's Office which was uncovered as a part of Operation TN Waltz. Hooks pleaded guilty in January to accepting $1,500 in fees for consulting work at Juvenile Court for work he did not do. Among the other politicans convicted and serving sentences in TN Waltz are Hook's father, Michael Hooks, Sr. and former State Sen. John Ford.
Fmr. State Rep. Accused of Taking Cockfighting Dough -- Cockfighting operators have told federal authorities they paid former state Rep. Ronnie Davis $30,000 years ago to help pass a law that made cockfighting a misdemeanor rather a felony in Tennessee. The Legislature in 1989 approved a sweeping rewrite of Tennessee criminal code and, in the process, changed cockfighting and all other types of animal fighting from a misdemeanor to a felony. Then in 1990, Davis, was House sponsor of a bill that changed cockfighting back to misdemeanor status. Other types of animal fighting remained a felony. Davis denies the charge, but FBI agents brought it to light in talks about making cockfighting again a felony crime. More here.
Dem Sheriff Candidate Files Against City -- Democratic Sheriff candidate Greg Beck has filed suit against the City of Chattanooga to contest a ruling that he must leave his job as a City Court officer before he can run for Sheriff. City Personnel Dir Donna Kelley cited a city ordinance declaring that city employees who run for public office must take a leave of absence. Mr. Beck said Wednesday he had planned at some point to take a leave of absence from his court officer job to campaign fulltime, but he said he was not yet ready to do so. More here.

Homosexuals are closing in on Tennessee even as you read this email, as you are sleeping and going to church. They are descending on you as with Boston and California yet, you are attacking an African American female who has harmed no one. You are a group of spineless, racists idiots!!
Where are your family members, associates, or I should say your friends the KKK?
You people are totally fearful of individuals that do not look like your wrinkle, swiveling faces.
You should be ashamed of yourselves, if that is possible. You say that, you are republicans, and I say you are spineless, dumb, and stupid. However, you should be proud to know that you are now known as a bunch of racists.
Thank you very much putting Tennessee back on the map as a state with residing cowards, Klu Klux Klans, and racists.
