For Heaven's sake Adam, take down the Hunchback of East Tennessee's announcement please! You didn't keep Fred Thompson, a Tennessean we all loved, up that long. Separate yourself while you can. DD will be the only one-termer in the history of the 1st District. Remember, the CGOP has him at a 64% negative rating. No one has ever won with that rating.

With one week to go in early voting, all the major candidates in 2006 will endorse Roe publicly. Roberts, Cheek, Walters and Venable have joined his campaign one way or the other.

Long and short of it, please move on. You're too sharp to be connected to a loser.

It certainly shows ones ignorance and lack of character by making fun of a mans physical disability. You are uninformed as Cheek and Walters were not on the radar screen let alone considered major contenders.
I know personally Venable is not endorsing either candidate unless he is lying. My bet is you do not have a clue as to what you ar saying. Get your facts straight!

First, sorry if you are easily offended but such is life. I thought it was a joke that Cheek ran with whatever disease he had. He stated one time that it kept him from alot of meetings as mayor so how was he ever going to do the job of a professional politician? So keep in mind, I call it like I see it even if it's a little unpleasant.

Granted Cheek and Waters weren't on the radar but when you put their support together with Roberts and Venable you have a sitting congressman who is a sitting duck. Just do the math and get YOUR facts straight.

Not easily offended,I just do not have to resort to making fun of ones physical handicaps as Davis has. As far as facts being straight you must not COMPREHEND well. You obviously are ill informed or lying--according to Richard Venable himself (as of today) he is not supporting any one candidate. He also stated Davis is doing a good job. What Venable are you talking to? Your lack of character and integrity was evident with personal insults on appearance(usually what happens when one is ill informed of facts)but now it is really takes another blow by misquoting Richard. Anyone is welcome to call Venable to verify this. It does help to have a clue about what is going on.

Memphis Amendments to Open Records Laws "Horrendeous"

Memphis Amendments to Open Records Laws "Horrendeous" -- TN was looking at expanding its Open Records law to allow even greater access, before representatives from Memphis met with state lawmakers to produce a compromise bill. The resulting bill is "horrendous" according to Frank Gibson, head of the Tennessee Coalition on Open Government. Memphis City Atty. Elbert Jefferson Jr. traveled to Nashville on April 9 and told a House subcommittee that requests for public records in Memphis require too much time for city employees to handle and are not always legitimate. Among the amendments that Jefferson was successful in tacking on are: (1) allow agencies to charge citizens and media representatives for all costs, including the hourly wages of staff time if it takes more than one hour, associated with producing records. (2) allow any governmental entity of a city of 155,000 or more (including Memphis, Nashville, Knoxville and Chattanooga) to take up to seven business days to respond to a public records request, rather than five days in the bill (3) give only citizens of Tennessee access to public records (4) requires notification to all public officials when a open records request involves them.

Open Container Law Hopes For More Road Funds -- A state open-container law has two state agencies fighting each other. The bill, which would make it a crime for even a passenger to have an open container in the car would bring the state of TN in compliance with federal legislation that requires the provision for federal road funds. Because the state is out of compliance, $12 in federal highway funds has instead been earmarked to the Governor's Highway Safety Office, which uses the money for public education campaigns on drunk driving. That office opposes the new bill that would bring the state into compliance because it would then lose out on the money. The state highway department has made the bill it's top legislative priority.

Rove to Headline Statesmen's -- White House advisor Karl Rove will headline the TN GOP's annual high-dollar fundraiser - the Statemen's Dinner - as the keynote speaker. Rove is widely credited with establishing the microtargeting strategy that ultimately won President Bush two terms in office, despite an increasingly even split electorate. Earlier, Rove criticized the TN GOP's use of Obama's middle name in a press release earlier this year.

Alexander Pushes for Early Retiremnet Benefits for Reserves -- Sen. Lamar Alexander told a group of Army reservists that he is one in a bipartisan group that has introduced legislation that would expand retirement benefits for members of the National Guard and Reserve who have served in the nation's war against terrorism. Sen. Alexander said the National Guard and Reserve Retired Pay Equity Act of 2008 would allow veteran reservists and guardsmen who have served on active duty since Sept. 11, 2001, to receive retirement pay three months earlier for every 90 days they spent on active duty. Alexander said currently, National Guard and Reserve members are the only military retirees who must wait until age 60 to collect retirement pay.
