TennCare Decisions Will Hurt Bredesen VP Talk -- Gov. Phil Bredesen, at one point considered a contender for the Democratic Vice Presidential post did endorse the party's nominee Barack Obama last week, but with comments that he sees Obama's chances in TN as not realistic, he has seemingly taken himself out of the hunt. Clint Brewer in today's City Paper reports that Bredesen's style probably clashed with Obama's anyway and his decision to remove thousands of the state's residents from the TennCare program didn't help either.
Haslam Gets Gov Talk -- Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam is the subject of some buzz this morning as Knoxville blogger Randy Neal noted Haslam was listed among those headliners for the TN GOP's annual statesmen's dinner. Haslam had previously been rumored as a potential GOP statewide candidate and Post Politics also mentions Haslam is headlining an event for the Davidson Co. GOP.
Dubrule Accused of DUI -- State Rep. candidate Dr. Rosaire "Ross" Dubrule, a Democratic candidate for the 77th State House district being vacated by Rep. Philip Pinion, has been charged with DUI and resisting arrest. Dubrule was arrested Friday and held in the Dyer County Jail. Dubrule already faces federal prescription fraud charges from a 2007 incident. With this latest arrest, he violated his $20,000 bond on the pending charges. More here.
